Each child is a special person with unique gifts and abilities. Hiland Preschool offers children a gentle and friendly environment for developing physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally.

Hiland Preschool's Goals

The children of Hiland Preschool develop social
skills and new freindships while gaining increased
understanding of the world around them.

The children build physical skills, self-esteem
and positive attitude as they engage in developmentally
appropriate directed and informal activities.

The children gain independence within a nurturing environment
that allows them to make a gentle transistion into the
school experience.

~ OUR STAFF ~

Half Pints

Kate Monti is the teacher of the Half Pints program. Her three children are all Hiland preschool graduates and she joined the teaching staff in January 2014.
Kate and her husband Bill live in the Avonworth school district where Kate is very active in her children's school as the PTA president.
Some of her hobbies include baking, sewing, scrapbooking and attending her children's sporting events.
Kate is really looking forward to the start of a new school year with your children!

Three year old class

Kelly Schreffler is the teacher in the three year old program. She was introduced to the program as a Hiland Church member
when her two children were enrolled at Hiland Preschool. She is also a past board member, serving from 2010 to 2013.
Kelly spent 8 years in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Montgomery, Alabama,
she pursed a degree in Anthropology/Sociology at the University of Auburn at Montgomery.
Kelly and her family currently reside in West View. As she starts each school year she looks forward to
meeting the new families and helping their children grow as they spend their days at Hiland Preschool.

Andrea is the teacher in the three year old program. She grew up in the North Hills and resides in Ross Township with her husband and her two children.
Her son and daughter are both graduates of Hiland Preschool.
Andrea discovered her passion for working with children by volunteering at both of her children's schools and is an active member in the PTO.
Andrea also has a passion for animals and enjoys spending her time attending her children's activities.
She looks forward to helping your children learn and grow throughout the school year!

Four year old class

Aimee Hunt is the teacher in the four year old class. She graduated from Robert Morris University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
During college, she worked at Pressley Ridge Day School for Autism as well as KinderCare Learning Center.
Shortly after graduating college and becoming a certified teacher she began substitute teaching at Avonworth Elementary School.
Throughout her years of teaching and working with children, she has learned that children teach and impact us as educators just as much as we do for them.
She is very excited to start the next chapter as an educator at Hiland Preschool.

Marci McCabe is the teacher in the four year old class. She has served as a Hiland Preschool Board Member for 2004 – 2006.
She joined our teaching staff in 2003 as a substitute teacher when her son was enrolled and then became a full time teacher in February 2006.
Marci has a degree in Business Management. She is also an active member at Hiland Presbyterian Church working closely with the children’s programs.
Marci and her husband, Kevin, live in Ross Township with their son Ryan. In her free time she enjoys scrap booking, gardening,
making jewelry and spending time with her family and friends.
